You got the love (live remix) - The XX feat. Florence Welch

You got the love (remix live) - The XX feat. Florence Welch
The first encounter I've had with The XX was in 2010 or 2011 when I approached their remix of one of my favourite songs ever, i.e. 'You got the love' by Florence + the Machine, and I was disgusted by that. That kept me far from them for a couple more years, when in 2013 I finally got close to them thanks to some friends' suggestions, and of course I could only regret letting so much time pass by without their music! Still, that 'You got the love' never met my taste, and I couldn't but be amazed about how two of my favourite bands could get together and create something that I found so hateful. The same feeling transferred through to my viewing of their live remix during the recent Night + Day event The XX organised in Brixton. Still, for how much the song didn't please me, their collaboration on the stage was magic, especially how Florence could remix her voice live even better than a DJ could do in a studio...! And that drew me to listen to the song again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And, well... I guess you understood by now what happened afterwards!

Beautiful night - Lemolo

Beautiful night - Lemolo
Everybody keeps complaining that I stay up late and wake up late, I don't know what to say about that, my body works better with this kind of sleep cycle and when I don't have any timed business to care about (like work, lectures, appointments and else), I don't see why society should condemn me for this! Don't we all have the right to feel better? Or as good as we can? And then there are some advantages for society too. For instance, when your parents have an early flight and need to leave for the airport at 4 in the morning, it's quite useful to have somebody awake who is driving you there, isn't it? Let's enjoy this and many other beautiful nights!

#sundayrevival Only if for a night - Florence + the Machine

Only if for a night - Florence + the Machine
This week has come to an end so quickly! I didn't even realised it started yet, and here is a new one already! Quite a few things happened actually, but time is flowing by in a weird way lately..! Anyway, today I am sharing with you a very, very important song for me. 'Ceremonials' has been the album that converted me to the Florence + the Machine cause fully and completely, it's been one of the most significant albums of probably the most significant period of my life so far, when I blossomed, suffered and grew up, when I went to live abroad alone for the first time, when I learned (again) how to stand on my own two feet. 'Only if for a night' is the opening song of this album, one of F+tM favourites overall and one of those songs that... just gets carved into you. Whenever it starts, it feels like it's singing the story of a part of me, as if my body was giving voice to its own feelings.
Today has been a Florence + the Machine day, I have been practically listening just to their music and it's been a while since I didn't do that, probably since their concert in Milan last December. And it all started with this song. It was on my head, I don't know why, but as I told you it is just a part of me, so I'm not surprised that it just comes out like this, even without any perceptible trigger. I am sharing this piece of me with you, so please just treat it well (I know you will)!!

"And the only solution was to stand and fight"

One evening - Feist

One evening - Feist
Saturday night is the anthem of people who love parties, having fun, spending time with their friends and dears, who want a break from the routine of work and life, who want to do something special, who want to live life at the fullest and create memories that will be there to stay. Saturday night is also a time like any other for many many people: people who work shifts, people who are raising kids, people who have a different cultural background, or who just don't care. Saturday night can also be a bad time for some people: people who have no one to hang out and spend time with, people who love to be by themselves but sometimes feel the urge to be with someone else, people who would like to be with others but didn't manage to organize anything, people who get stressed out by the need to plan something, or people who just hate noise and want to be quiet and relax. One way or the other, it is a special time of the week for many many ones around, and we have all fallen into more than one of the preceding categories at a point in our lives (or at least, I did). Anyway it's undeniable that it's a time of week that exerts some kind of fascination on the most of us, especially those of us who work regular shifts. Let's be honest, it usually is not just one evening.

#sundayrevival Some nights - Fun.

Some nights - Fun.
Just to remain within the framework of my friend's playlist, here is a perfect pick for this week's sundayrevival! When 'We are young' came out in 2012, it's been a massive hit and I kinda liked it. But my love and interest for Fun. as a band evolved and became complete only after their next single reached success: I've always been in love with 'Some nights', it's probably my favourite song of theirs and it's the one that made me listen to their whole album, which I liked! I actually almost never go back to listen their 2012 album, but it's always pleasing when I hear one of their songs! Especially this one!

Christmas must be tonight - Scala & Kolacny brothers

Christmas must be tonight - Scala & Kolacny brothers
At least on xmas eve let's keep on with the themed music! As I have been doing every year since I can remember, I have been counting christmas trees on our way back home from grandma's house, this year they added up to a satisfactory 57, not like the golden years but better than the last few! We have arranged all the stuff needed for tomorrow's lunch, I prepared the table with my usual paranoia, everything is perfectly aligned (now, who knows about tomorrow when we get back there...) and ready for lunch! Now what else? I will just be waiting for Santa Claus to come, say hello and go to bed, ready for the presents time tomorrow morning and then for lunch at grandma's! This year is probably the one I've been feeling the holidays the least, but it's still a magical time, especially thinking about all the challenges and changes that are awaiting me in the future!

Army dreamers - Kate Bush

Army dreamers - Kate Bush
Saturday night comes again, this time I'm going out (it took an effort reaching out for my "network" and finding somebody who was in town and doing something, but I made it), so I just came out of the shower, still have to dry up my hair, and then I'll meet with my friend E. and one friend of hers to go and attend a gig by a local band covering blues and soul classics... well the gig actually supposedly began a few minutes ago and we will go out in some time, so I guess it's gonna be finished already when we get there, but at least we'll get a drink and hang out! To celebrate the current wintery but classy time of year, this tune seems the right one. Hope you enjoy it, now let me go dry my hair before I get a stroke!

Nothing left to say + Rocks - Imagine Dragons

Nothing left to say - Imagine Dragons
There are so many good songs on Imagine Dragons' debut album Night Visions that I still didn't post, and given that I've been listening to it quite a lot today, it looks like this is a good time to write about one of them at least! This is the closing act of the standard version of Night visions (b-sides and bonus material apart) and it's one that really grew into me with time! I think it's also a great choice for closure, both in terms of message/lyrics and of music. Just don't think this is a way I'm saying goodbye to you, I'll be back tomorrow as usual, I promise!

PS: After a 1 minute break you'll find also the ghost track Rocks, a very good way to make you understand that it doesn't end here!

Goodnight - PJ Harvey

Goodnight - PJ Harvey
Hello there! Weekend's over, I'm yet again late with my post but I am really really tired and need to go take some sleep, tomorrow I'm back to work (I have to hang on, just about 10 days and I'll be done with my internship)! I'll leave you quickly again and promise tomorrow I'll be back for real and tell you all about my London easter break! Have a good night with one of my favourite PJ songs!

On top of the world - Imagine Dragons

On top of the world -
Imagine Dragons
Well... until 1 minute ago I was planning to post something else here today, but this image here on the left I found on my Facebook wall made me change my mind. Today it's been one of the first days I've not been listening to the entire Night visions on my iTunes, yet it has been fully played in the office, so I didn't miss my daily dose of Imagine Dragons. I guess I just can't help posting On top of the world today, given my inspiration.

"It's a revolution I suppose." They say.

"I take it in but don’t look down." I say. 'Cause I'm on top of the world.

Tonight's the night - Neil Young

I think we are finally all the way into the new year, so it's time to start with posts about what's happening now to my music world! I have started my way through Neil Young's discography a few months ago, I am now listening to his eight album, Tonight's the night (and I'm just close to getting a quarter of the job done, you can imagine how many albums he released!). I must confess I'm really enjoying this one, it's probably gonna be among the top three of what I've listened to up to now. The title track is divided in two parts, one is the opening track and the second one is the closing. Even though I prefer part II, I could only find the opening one on Youtube; they're anyway pretty similar to each other, so no big deal!
