You got the love (live remix) - The XX feat. Florence Welch

You got the love (remix live) - The XX feat. Florence Welch
The first encounter I've had with The XX was in 2010 or 2011 when I approached their remix of one of my favourite songs ever, i.e. 'You got the love' by Florence + the Machine, and I was disgusted by that. That kept me far from them for a couple more years, when in 2013 I finally got close to them thanks to some friends' suggestions, and of course I could only regret letting so much time pass by without their music! Still, that 'You got the love' never met my taste, and I couldn't but be amazed about how two of my favourite bands could get together and create something that I found so hateful. The same feeling transferred through to my viewing of their live remix during the recent Night + Day event The XX organised in Brixton. Still, for how much the song didn't please me, their collaboration on the stage was magic, especially how Florence could remix her voice live even better than a DJ could do in a studio...! And that drew me to listen to the song again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And, well... I guess you understood by now what happened afterwards!

Sweet nothing - Calvin Harris feat. Florence Welch

Sweet nothing - Calvin Harris feat. Florence Welch
There are times in your life when stuff is going great. There are times in your life when stuff is going not so well. Notwithstanding how stuff in your life is going, Florence Welch will always have a song describing perfectly your feelings. At least, Florence Welch always has a song describing perfectly MY feelings. I don't know how she does it, but her music is able to put into clear words all the mess that sometimes is inside of my head. That's the biggest reason why I love her methinks. Does it happen to you too? Do you have a singer who always seems to know how you're feeling?

Which witch (demo) - Florence + the Machine

Which witch (demo) -
Florence + the Machine
Today two main things happened: first I finished reading Neon Genesis Evangelion (the manga). I had been reading it in parallel with the watching of the anime... well, it must be some 4 years ago or so, and given that now is the time it is set in, and most importantly given that now the manga has been finished (while when I was reading it there were still a couple of volumes due for release), it seemed like a good time to re-read it and take it to completion. And I'm glad I did that, it's a real work of art, very deep and philosophical, wondering about the meaning of life and the fate of humanity, with a dark and sad tone but very realistic and... I liked how it ended!
The second thing is that I bonded definitely with another song by the 'Queen of peace' (or shall I say 'Witch'? Which of the two?), that is this beautiful demo. I remember reading an article/interview where she was saying that while talking with her producer, she was very proud of this one epic song, which she had taken the vocals more than a hundred times for, etc. and then he said that he wanted to keep it simple on this album, keep her to the bare essential. And so this pearl (its demo actually) ended up (unrightfully imho) being a part of the deluxe edition, a bonus track...! Well... the song is very Florence + the Machine, very Florence Welch actually and I'm sure that all the hardcore fans can't not love it, even if (and even more because it has been left) in its rawer form.
A must listen!

Leave my body - Florence + the Machine

Leave my body -
Florence + the Machine
Hey people! Here I am again, sorry for irregular posting in these days but I'm really enjoying Sicily!! Now we're at sea and it's great, we bore an unbelievable route through the mountains to come here, all curvy and uneven, but we made it! And it's great: nobody on the beach, warm sun, warm water and great bathing in the sea, awesome! And how could I forget about the food? Sweets, fried stuff, fish, everything Sicilian is just great! I don't ever wanna come back!!
During that awful trip at least we have great music as a soundtrack! It was mainly Florence and this song was particularly heartfelt by me, being meaningful as usual and even more than usual. As being in a great place, having a great time doesn't take away the problems. It just helps a lot forgetting about them!

No light no light - Florence + the Machine

Lots of revelations in these days! I realised just now that another one of my favourite and beloved artists has not been featured here yet, so I'll promptly fix the issue!
This is the girl for whom I've travelled 500 miles and more (actually 1392 miles, wow!). The girl who I am laying most of my hopes in for great music in the future. The girl who seems to speak with words that are not my own but that are perfectly able to describe what I'm feeling. I don't think she needs any more presentations or acclaim. This is Florence Welch with her Machine in one of their most epic creations, No light no light!
