I was everyone - Joan as Police Woman

She ran the risk of passing by unnoticed (and she almost did), but luckily enough this didn't happen! As you might recall, I started listening to Joan just before her concert in Exeter which, for various circumstances (mainly my laziness and not sufficiently developed interest), I didn't attend in the end. I'm not regretting this decision, I wasn't ready for a concert of her then and most probably I wouldn't be now. Yet I'm not implying that I didn't like her music, rather... Ok, she didn't strike me so strong in such a little time, but the number of singers/bands who did is very, very limited. I have just been listening to one album by her (2011's The Deep Field) and some songs did catch my attention after a few plays. This is one of them, actually the last one that got in my mind and one that I still enjoy (a lot) after a few weeks, making it probably the single most important reason why my listening to Joan has been a positive experience. So, well... stand up and be heard!

Another week is coming to an end so quickly! This coming weekend is gonna be hyper, I hope I'll get the chance to post a couple of songs anyway! But let's focus on today now, one thing at a time. I'm stumbling on the choice of the song for the first time this week, but I have many alternatives available, so I'll just pick one. I have started listening to Joan recently, after noticing that she is going to play a venue in Exeter at the end of the month. I still didn't make up my mind about whether I'll be going to this gig or not, but in the meanwhile I started taking a liking for her music, in particular a couple of songs, among which there is this! You never know where you can find your magic...!

Joan of Arc - Arcade Fire

Originally another post was programmed for my arrival in Avignon, but things happen and due to some circumstances I had to publish that sooner. But don't worry, you'll get something good too! I'm actually not gonna get very far from the original idea: this is Joan of Arc, another one of my favourite songs out of Arcade Fire's new album. As many of the others, it's pretty long and it takes time to be liked (in my opinion). Yet, give it the benefit of some 5 plays and it'll grow into you, I swear, and very soon its fire will burn inside of you even brighter than the one that burned poor Joan!
