Take on me - A-ha

Take on me - A-ha
One of my Facebook friends posted a video I already saw a few years ago about 3 super-funny guys (Axis of awesome) showing how most successful pop-songs are built on the same 4 chords (watch the official video here). One of the songs they were playing is a 1986 song I just added to my August playlist. I immediately thought about posting it, then I changed my mind because there is another relevant music-related event that took place in my life today, but, given that I practically already wrote the post about A-ha, let's give them some room today and tomorrow (or maybe tonight if I have the time) I'll tell you more about what else is going on. I can give you an anticipation: it regards one of the people featured in my new blog heading!

Salsa Tequila - Anders Nilsen

Salsa Tequila - Anders Nilsen
Things you learn in Amsterdam spending time with the locals (and the fact that the locals include your Italian expat friend and her very local boyfriend makes it ok): we were on the car going towards Zaanse Schans, the 'above-mentioned' (see yesterday's post) windmills little town, while this song started. I learned that this guy from Norway, a comedian methinks, made a bet with some friends and wrote this song, claiming it would've become a summer hit. Well, it kinda did, at least here (I'm waiting for the time it's gonna come to Italy, maybe I can help pave its way there)! The funny thing about it is that the lyrics are random Spanish words and names put together, as he doesn't speak any Spanish. The funniest thing (to me) is that it sounds more or less like most summer hits in terms of making sense and depth of meaning. So, what's the problem? Let's salsa tequila corazon!

Everything's good - Lene Marlin

A little bit out of context of my 2013 best now. Twist the truth is one of my favourite winter albums and, even if it dates back to 2009, is currently the last album released by Lene Marlin. I really love the atmosphere that the songs on this album recreate, especially in winter times. This track is the opening, not one of my absolute favs but still a good one for getting ready to spend a comfortable time under the blankets or with a cup of tea in hand!
