Things you learn in Amsterdam spending time with the locals (and the fact that the locals include your Italian expat friend and her very local boyfriend makes it ok): we were on the car going towards Zaanse Schans, the 'above-mentioned' (see yesterday's post) windmills little town, while this song started. I learned that this guy from Norway, a comedian methinks, made a bet with some friends and wrote this song, claiming it would've become a summer hit. Well, it kinda did, at least here (I'm waiting for the time it's gonna come to Italy, maybe I can help pave its way there)! The funny thing about it is that the lyrics are random Spanish words and names put together, as he doesn't speak any Spanish. The funniest thing (to me) is that it sounds more or less like most summer hits in terms of making sense and depth of meaning. So, what's the problem? Let's salsa tequila corazon!

Aaand here we are again! Amsterdaaaam! I should have been arrived by now (I'm writing this in advance) after a (finally) 'decent-houred' flight in the middle of the day! I hope the travel has been smooth and the weather is nice (well, that might be a bit unlikely), we'll see... I have been thinking about how to post something related to the city, but the only two songs that come to my mind have been here already... yet I really want to post this one by Imagine Dragons and I can't find a decent remix or a decent live version... what to do? The only decent version I found is this live at Lollapalooza Brazil recorded last April! Happy Amsterdam!

EDIT: I have not arrived, actually I'm at the airport in front of my gate waiting to climb on the plane, but this makes sense still!

Little Amsterdam (live) - Tori Amos

Here we are! The day has finally come, I couldn't wait any longer! In a few hours I'm gonna be enjoying a (hopefully) great gig with my dear Tori and I must say I'm very excited about it (if ever you haven't noticed yet)!! She's been singing some of my favourites in the past dates and the new album is quite interesting too, so let's hope for a charming setlist!! Whoever has seen her live at least once or twice will know that her setlist is always very much different from one night to the next and this tour hasn't been different as of now, so fingers crossed! I am really at a loss now, wouldn't know exactly what to post... or maybe I do. Hoping that this will be a kind of lucky charm, I'm gonna post a song out of my favourite concert ever (too bad I was too young to experience it for real, but the videos are so powerful themselves!), that is the redhead's performance in New York for RAINN in early 1997. My suggestion for you is to go watch the whole thing), it's worth it! Happy concert (to me tonight and to you for whenever you're gonna go to your next one)!

Ups and downs (did I start another post like this? well, whatever...). Ups and downs. Life is full of them, but who-knows-why the downs are the ones we always (or at least often) pay much more attention to. Or at least I do. Maybe I still didn't find a way to recognise the ups, to notice when they're happening, to enjoy them at the fullest. Or maybe they just didn't happen (yet). Not with the same strength as the downs. Well, I don't wanna say that I wanna throw my life in the toilet, not at all. It's just... sometimes I'd like to feel a little happy too. One positive thing I must say is that being a little bit depressed is super fit with the British atmosphere and environment! I'll just picture these moments in my mind and I'll smile when I'll be looking back at them in the merry future that is awaiting me. If it just stopped being future and started being present...

I must confess that I had many ideas for the song of today, this one was not one of them, but events brought me to change my plans (as usual). I was also thinking of a new-format post, but I decided it's not the right time for it (yet). For the time being just enjoy the time you have in this life in the best way possible.
