Ocean drive - Duke Dumont

Ocean drive - Duke Dumont
I am really feeling the pressure for the blog lately: spending so much time at home, I am listening to a lot of (great) new music, and I don't have enough time to post all the songs I would like to! Now I have just created a new playlist while I still have songs from the now-third-to-last-one to post, I haven't even seriously started posting from my not-anymore-current playlist! I really need to get out and do things! (Do I really?) Anyway, this song, together with the recent remix of 'Ain't nobody' that I recently posted, reminds me of our taxi drive in Abu Dhabi... gosh, I wish I had another travel to somewhere warm planned already, it's so cold here in these days!

Ain't nobody (loves me better) - Felix Jaehn feat. Jasmine Thompson

Ain't nobody -
Felix Jaehn feat. Jasmine Thompson
Oh my goodness guys, my computer went back on last night (thanks goodness itself) and so I officially have a new playlist. And still more than one week worth of posting to make from my former playlist. How can time pass by so fast?! I guess that staying at home for most of the day lately has given me a lot of free time for listening to music and I have indeed been approaching many new artists and albums lately (many of which are not even considered among my already-planned posting yet!), and I'm quite excited about it, as it's been quite a long time since I approached so much (good) new music all at once! For tonite I'm gonna leave you with a song that you've been hearing around for sure; when I think about it, I personally go back to a taxi ride in Abu Dhabi when we got this one and another song that I added to my library in that circumstance. It really feels great to travel and it feels even better to go back to the memories created while going around the world!
PS: Don't forget to check out the beautiful original version of this song by Chaka Khan!!

Fiction - Joni Mitchell

Fiction - Joni Mitchell
Day 2 of my Macbook not working, last night I did a back-up of the disk and this morning I tried to restart it, without any success. Now I'm trying again and it's gonna be the last thing I do before bringing it to an assistance point tomorrow. Life without my main computer is tough and the day feels hard to fill. I already feel the lack of my iTunes, especially to choose songs for the blog, lack of my anime and series, of a smoothly-working internet and everything... I really hope I'll be able to get it work somehow, but I guess you don't care much about it! Off my current playlist (given that the new one I had just created is lost in my not-booting-anymore computer) is an old tune by Joni, my first favourite off the album of hers I'm currently listening to (Dog eat dog).

The only - Lykke Li

The only - Lykke Li
As I placed my last CDs order on Amazon recently, I realised that I had on AutoRip (Amazon's service that gives you access to MP3 files of the albums you have bought and are going to be delivered to you) a few extra songs, bonus materials and b-sides that were missing in my library, so I immediately downloaded them. It was mainly music coming from Lykke Li's first two albums, and the songs are actually quite good!! I already added a couple of them to my current playlist (which I'm actually enjoying a lot!) and so I thought that you might want to give them a try to!

#sundayrevival Blue - R.E.M. feat. Patti Smith

Blue - R.E.M. feat. Patti Smith
I've made a relatively big change in my appearance (upper body) that is related to blue: I've been thinking of doing this for years and now the time has come, I feel great about it, more myself than I've ever felt methinks. My mother told me that I should've done it before Florence + the Machine's concert (given that their latest album is called 'How big, how blue, how beautiful'), and it occured to me that she's quite right! I still have another chance for the next concert in April, but in the meantime I prepared a playlist called 'Blue' that features some of my favourite songs that are centered around what is one of my favourite colours. This is an absolute masterpiece included in it, probably R.E.M.'s final song (the last one of their last studio album) and legacy, a beautiful collaboration with Patti Smith that fits perfectly this sundayrevival post!

The humming - Enya

The humming - Enya
I am kind of at a loss being here and needing to choose a song to post... I have posted a lot of Florence + the Machine lately, so I can't keep on; the problem is that in the last 3 days I've been only listening to them, mainly to their new album. The impact of the concert on my relationship with it has brought me to a level close to obsession, and I understand I need to break free (but I keep indulging...)! Anyway, yesterday I've been busy organizing and enjoying my usual xmas dinner with friends and it's been nice to be together, even for just a few hours. Then today I mainly cleaned up the leftovers of yesterday and prepared a little more sushi for tomorrow, as I already had the ingredients ready. I've not been feeling great in the last few days, and tonight I feel especially weak and ready-for-the-flu. Let's see how I'm gonna wake up tomorrow...! Maybe Santa Claus will spread some magic powder on me and make me feel well again! So as to catch two birds with one stone I am posting an Enya song off my former playlist (I'm lagging behind with posting, I know...), as she always puts on that kind of christmasy atmosphere! Wish you a great xmas eve and holidays and everything!

One million bullets - Sia

One million bullets - Sia
While I was driving and thriving all around Lanzarote, I found a radio station ('La top cuarenta') that was putting on some non-spanish music, like Top-40 hits and so and it's been quite enjoyable! In the short time I've been driving I got to listen to two Sia songs, the first single off her upcoming album, 'Alive' and my favourite song off her previous album, 'Elastic heart' (which has been, coincidentally, my best song of 2014... we are almost at the end of the year, so stay tuned for this year's winners soon!). I've been greatly enjoying listening to those songs on the radio, as it means she got the success she deserves. This is another very nice tune out of her upcoming album, which should be out in about a month. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed my time here, which unfortunately has come to an end... I'll write again from the gray and cold Milan tomorrow. Have a great night!

A knife in the ocean - Foals

A knife in the ocean - Foals
Hey there, sorry for missing another post yesterday, but I have been... ehm, busy! I'll make it up for you! I have completed a new playlist, which is composed by an impressive 24 songs, so that means a lot of materials that is going directly from my ears to yours! But for now I'm picking out of the last remnants of my playlist n°13 of 2015, in particular from an album that I ended up loving quite a lot (this has been happening quite often this year!), even if some songs on it still haven't found their way into me. I guess that I don't need to make any introduction on Foals, so I'll just leave you with the music, get to study some Japanese and then leave the office and aim for the pool! Have a good evening (or whatever)!

Better than I know myself - Adam Lambert

Better than I know myself - Adam Lambert
I have been listening to some of the albums in my 'Pick and catch' playlist today while driving to work (long drive, with more traffic than usual, took me about 4 hours to get here...) and then while driving to the medical center to get a test done during lunch break. This playlist is the one I use to collect all the new albums I am currently getting to know and I keep it updated, usually taking them out after 10 listens. The last one I've listened to today was the first one on the list, one I already know pretty well, and that is Adam Lambert's sophomore 'Trespassing'. I was deciding which songs to put in my new playlist among the ones that I haven't put already in the previous ones, and the choice is proving to be quite hard, as I kinda can sing most of them with pleasure already!! For this time so I will just post the last good one out of my current playlist, but expect more to come in the near future!

Love to blame - Dido

Love to blame - Dido
I went back to my 2013 playlists in the last few days because I wanted to listen to the Foals' 'My number', I have been in a very Foals-oriented music mood lately, but I can't just post their songs all at once! So I'm posting another one I really like that came out of the playlists of late 2013...! I've always kind of overlooked Dido's latest album since it came out, probably as it's the first one of hers that came out after my musical horizons widened so much and after she stopped being so so important as an artist to me (she still is, but she's in good and numerous company now!), yet the songs are quite nice, I like many of them, maybe not as much as I love her previous works, as to those I am also emotionally attached, but still, it's good music!

Me & Anodyne - Hundred waters

Me & Anodyne - Hundred waters
Hello guys! Quick post today because I have to go to sleep and be up and fit tomorrow morning, gotta start working!! I am near Treviso now, staying in a cute b&b and tomorrow morning I'll go sign the papers, get the stuff and move a few miles north towards the small town where the firm I'll be working in is located! Going to be close to the mountains, hope it's not too cold. The drive here today has not been bad, even though it got dark quite soon. Before I loaded a couple nice people in Milan to share the trip, I was listening to my new playlist and I want to share a song out of it with you tonite. After falling in love with their latest work, I got to listen to Hundred waters' debut album and for the time being I find it quite pleasing, I think that in a few more listens I'm gonna like it as much as 'The moon rang like a bell'!! Goodnite to y'all!

Terrible lie - Nine inch nails

Terrible lie - Nine inch nails
It's been a long time since I started listening to a new artist/band with a hefty discography, and I have kinda felt the lack thereof (ok, I have Joni Mitchell and Neil Young on my shelf, but their works are so numerous and I don't love them so much that I keep listening to their albums one right after the other), especially since I finished listening to the whole of Patti Smith, R.E.M. and U2. I've had Radiohead in queue for years and lately I decided to approach NIN too; I am actually listening to their debut albums together since a couple of weeks ago. Contrary to my expectations, I'm liking NIN's 'Pretty hate machine' way better than Radiohead's 'Pablo honey', so here is one of the few songs that I already added to my playlists!

Communication - The Ting Tings

Communication - The Ting Tings
Given the lack of time I've had lately as far as listening to new music is concerned, I've really savaged my second playlist of the year for inspiration for blog posting. And well... this is one of the very few songs that are in it that I hadn't posted already. And yes, I have already compiled a new playlist after it, and posted songs out of it, but I needed to give the Tings at least this one post out of their new album. You might remember how I previously underlined that I didn't really get to love their latest work as much as the previous, but it successfully passed the proof of time and I actually got to like most of the songs on it way better than I did. Like transitioning from "that's ok but I'll forget about it in a couple of weeks" to "Wow, I really do like this! I'm going to listen to it again soon!". Because there is all the difference in between wanting to hear a song again and just happening to hear it by chance!

#sundayrevival Some nights - Fun.

Some nights - Fun.
Just to remain within the framework of my friend's playlist, here is a perfect pick for this week's sundayrevival! When 'We are young' came out in 2012, it's been a massive hit and I kinda liked it. But my love and interest for Fun. as a band evolved and became complete only after their next single reached success: I've always been in love with 'Some nights', it's probably my favourite song of theirs and it's the one that made me listen to their whole album, which I liked! I actually almost never go back to listen their 2012 album, but it's always pleasing when I hear one of their songs! Especially this one!

Jackie and Wilson - Hozier

Jackie and Wilson - Hozier
Hozier + Annie Lennox @ Grammys... I mean, wow! Did you watch their performance? I was amazed, had to watch it two times to recover from the emotional blow but... wow! Crazy intense! Unfortunately I haven't found a decent quality video recording of it available on the web yet, but... wow! Really, after a few hours I still haven't recovered! I'm more and more sad that Annie isn't touring anymore because of problems with stressing her voice, I would have loved to see her live!! And Hozier, so peaceful but resolute, almost eaten out by Annie's power but working as a perfect and complementary element... almost like a bass in a band! Wow... I can't stop being amazed by the power of this performance!
I've actually been willing to listen to Hozier's album since this morning, when my wake up call (his song Angel of small death and the Codeine scene) rang... I'm doing it just now, but with a more special feeling in my heart! It's so peculiar that I've been listening to his album and Annie's latest practically together and then they've performed together at the Grammys! And what a performance!! What I'm sharing with you is a song I put in my current playlist, actually one that I am greatly enjoying these days, it's called Jackie and Wilson, I hope you enjoy!

Gone - U2

Gone - U2
I have recently compiled a playlist with my favourite U2 songs and every time I play it with shuffle mode on, this song pops up. It did now and it somehow seems to make a lot of sense.

"I'll be up with the sun, I'm not coming down."

Pop is a weird U2 album for me: it is not at all among my favourites, but there is a triplet of songs (Staring at the sun + Last night on earth + Gone) that I really really like, and that I've been liking since I approached the album.

"You wanted to get somewhere so badly you had to lose yourself along the way."

Gone in particular has always meant something special to me, I probably didn't understand what and why until now. Or maybe I still don't! It's weird how your relationship with a song changes and evolves with time, whenever you have this "illumination" moments and it seems like you're understanding each other better than before... one of the reasons why I love music!

" 'Cause I'm already gone, felt that way all along.
Closer to you every day, I didn't want it that much anyway."

When you were mine - Cyndi Lauper

When you were mine - Cyndi Lauper
I'm drawing fully from my current playlists to create posts this week, and I'm glad when I do that, because it means I'm really liking the music I'm listening to! Mainly focused on Hozier, The Ting Tings and Cyndi Lauper (plus a few extra additions that I will share with you shortly), the playlist I've built for this beginning of February is one I'm really fond of. Its name is very telling: Sperendio, (literally "hoping-in-god") which is a word used in Italian when you do something without attention or not having data and information that lets you foresee the outcome of your actions with good predictability, and which is a word that describes my current stage of life perfectly! It seems like the inspired name of the playlist brought me to select inspiring music for it, and this is another piece of it that I am enjoying greatly!

Do it again - The Ting Tings

Do it again - The Ting Tings
I have just watched the video of the first single of Komminuet, a duo that got almost to the end of last year's Italian X-Factor and I was just realising how much they look like an Italian version of The Ting Tings: the Komminuet guy is "a rapper" and has a more central role in the singing part than Jules does in the Tings, but apart from that they are very similar, in particular they play a very similar genre, a kind of electro-hip hop and something else... quite peculiar! Anyway, back to the Tings, I have recently posted (I think) the first song out of their latest album a few days ago on the blog, now it's time for n°2, which is actually the first one that got my attention and one that I have just featured in my first February playlist! The other post didn't resonate much with you guys, so I hope that this one will have a little more success...! I know, this album is not (at all) my favourite work of them (for now), rather... yet it's very new, so it can only grow and a few songs are already showing potential in my opinion, so why don't you give it a try?!
Besides, I just found out that 'Do it again' has also been released as a single (well before the album came out)!! I like the video, it's pretty cool! And the song is really catchy, I'm sure you're gonna like it!

Irgendwo in der Mitte - Silbermond

Irgendwo in der Mitte - Silbermond
Another unpopular (or I could say alternative, given that this is a music blog) post for today, after yesterday's...! I found myself listening to Sia's album again today, I really love it, and soon after it in alphabetical order in my iTunes are Silbermond, a German band I started listening to while preparing my German oral exam in university. I can't hide that I grew a liking for them, I had already posted a song of them here and given that I've decided to include a couple more of their Himmel auf album tracks in my next playlist, it seemed to make sense to have them here today! This is another one of my favourites on the album, the title means "Somewhere in the middle" (not that I get much else from the lyrics...!)

It will come back - Hozier

It will come back - Hozier
I was just scrolling down my last dozen posts and I realised I didn't post quite as much Hozier as I thought I did and as I wanted to! His eponymous debut album is for sure the one I've been listening to lately that I love the most, it's been my favourite listen since the last weeks of last year and I'm still enjoying it a lot, so it's definitely time to share with you one more song, especially as I've been listening to my playlist with some songs of his first and then to the whole album while I was getting my baggage ready and cleaning my room! Yes, I'm about to leave again soon...! I'll let you know more in the next few days, tomorrow I'll move back to Milan for starters. But let's not rush time and enjoy Hozier for now!

PS: I am amazed by how awesome and similar to the recorded version these live sessions are, just.... wow!
