After an almost sleepless night yesterday, last night I finally made it up with about 12 hours of sleep and I woke up in this new year of the rooster (or cock, as one wishes..!) and checking Facebook, I saw a post by a fanclub that left me with Third eye's lyrics in mind. It's been a while since I gave a proper listen to Florence, so I really am not minding this start of day big, blue and beautiful! Hoping she will give me the right energy to start this lunar new year in the best way possible, even if for now the feeling I get is the one of being out of place and far from home when everybody else is celebrating... gotta put myself to study before melancholia gets the best of me!!

Clockenflap has come to an end, I am still recovering from it (especially from the rain I took on Saturday, which has left me with an ongoing sore throat), but it's been well worth it! It's been a increasing feast of enjoyment and the cherry on the pie have been Sekai no Owari, whose performance has been amazing!! I didn't expect them to be so good, I didn't expect so many people to sing all the songs by heart (even the ones in Japanese) and well... the whole thing has turned out to be unforgettable!! I can't wait to get to know their music better and hopefully to see them live again soon! They are due for an international debut in the end, aren't they...?

Clockenflap has finally begun after a pretty busy week for me, so I wish I had a couple more days to recover in preparation of it, but you know... life goes its own way! Last night I enjoyed Sigur ros, even if I practically didn't know their music. The concert has been powerful and enjoyable, so it's been worth it. Today is the main dish for me, the main reason why I bought the ticket: Jose Gonzalez and London Grammar are awaited on the stage, and I can't wait any longer! I'm about to get out and enjoy, will tell you how it goes later, hoping it won't rain (too much)!!

November is at the doors, and that means less than 1 month to Clockenflap! I really can't wait for the biggest arts and music festival of Hong Kong, I really need to take my mind off my stressful life... I am in the process of figuring out my personal schedule, and I'm listening to some new bands that I'll get to see at the festival, if things go as planned! Sekai no owari are one of them: I didn't know about them before, but it looks like they are one of the biggest Japanese acts around, and they are likely to try and get to the international market soon enough! Given that I could really use an SOS right now, this song of theirs comes at the right time!

After a couple of signal 3 typhooning, I've already grown tired of the freakin' rain (as if I ever liked it before...), but well... I have to try and stay positive! Things are going a bit more smoothly now, which is good, but I am also starting to see how this whole PhD thing works, with peak stress periods and then down periods, so I guess it's gonna be twice as hard to keep myself the "right amount of busy" at all times! Anyway, no big news under the musical point of view either. Lately I've been mostly listening back to my best playlisted songs of 2016 and, well... I guess that this one is gonna join the club soon!

It's time for a new artist to be featured in the blog! Are you excited? I am, quite a bit I would say! I already mentioned him in my latest post, so it's not gonna be a total surprise. He has been under my radar for quite a while, since I found out about him when he has been nominated for last year's Mercury Prize, and now I finally decided to give him a proper chance. His music is quite similar to that of Fleet Foxes, I just noticed, and both of them mostly attracted my attention thanks to the beauty of their album cover arts! While I haven't been able to appreciate the American band's music (even by getting back to them multiple times), this British guy has been able to catch and keep my attention... probably because his fairytale-like musical atmospheres are paired with catchy melodies, making the whole song experience quite a good combo! I hope you guys can enjoy C Duncan too!

When I recently purchased the deluxe CD version of 'Smoke + Mirrors' on Amazon, on it I found this song that I didn't know before. I guess that the concept of unknown applies quite fittingly to my present life. I'm ready to take my next leap of faith in less than a year (finally) and I can't wait any longer now! Even if I have greatly enjoyed these past months of me-time, it's time to jump into the unknown once more!

I started watching again Game of Thrones from the beginning, I've been meaning to for a couple years as I kinda lost the thread of the whole thing, and after a few episodes I am have already understood a bunch of things I didn't really get (or remember from) the first time. Plus, I booked my next trip, which is going to happen soon. Well, given the shitty rain and the seemingly not-coming-so-soon summer, what else can I do?! Yeah, yeah you're right, I could drive, I could think about all the feelings that I hide, I could sit in silence waiting for a sign. Good advice, yo!

I wasn't planning on posting more Julia Holter songs for the time being, but here I am, and it feels right to take a few moments and share this one with you. True, Julia's music hasn't been utterly rocking my world, not as much as many other artists' work anyway, but there is a preciousness and peculiarity in her songs that makes them... I don't know, personally it's like I don't feel the need to go listen to them, but when I do it feels good! Unfortunately unlike Halsey I don't run on gasoline, and that means I am just human and have things to do (which, lately, seem to all condense in short periods of time, then leaving my days totally empty after) and I forget to do other things, such as posting on the blog. Anyway, musically speaking in the last few days I've been listening to Moby quite a lot (even more after reading an article about his biographic book that just came out), so expect more posts about him, and also I've felt my connection with PJ's last album grow stronger, so expect more of that stuff too!! Nothing particularly relevant is going on with my life these days, I have resumed playing Mario Kart 64 and I am trying to improve my records on some tracks, I am going to visit one of my long time friends in Lecco where she's been studying for her degree and where I promised I would go visit like 5 years ago, I have just finished watching a crazy Japanese superhero movie, quite entertaining and peculiar and very... well, peculiar (it's called Hentai Kamen, don't try looking for it if you are oversensitive!), plus taking care of daily routines. Sharing this Adam Lambert song with you, I am finally getting rid of all the draft posts that have been hanging over me lately, so I am finally free to find some new music to share with you!

Among the big amount of new music I've been approaching lately is Julia Holter, yet another artist I have discovered thanks to KEXP radio live videos. Listening to her latest album, released last year, I must confess I have not been immediately stricken by her music, which is kind of ethereal and easy to get lost into. Nonetheless after a few listens I have been able to enjoy a few more songs of hers, even though I don't know if I am going on to deepen my knowledge of her music soon. What I can tell you is that for sure there are a few songs worth listening, and this is one of the most accessible ones!!

Here I am, back again after another long absence. This time around my being away from the blog has been the sum of a pretty nice holiday in Phuket added up to not having a working internet connection back at home, which has prevented me from coming back to you a couple days before. But let's talk about Phuket, the trip has been fine, great beaches, super hot weather, not even a single drop of rain... I can't not fall in love with it every time, especially after I get away from it! The sunset colours in particular have been amazing this time too, and they will be in my heart forever, so what other song could I post if not this one?!

Yesterday I posted 'Meet on ledge' by Counting Crows and, talking about songs that got stuck in my head lately, I need to share with you guys this one too! I really can't get it out!
I have also been watching the Season 6 finale of 'One tree hill' and I've been crying a little bit. Ok, maybe a little more than a little bit. It's peculiar how we get attached to characters that are not even real people but who portray potentially real people and stories, and it is always amazing to be touched by that, especially when the shows go on for quite a long time and you really have the time to feel part of that world that is created. Don't you agree?

Hey guys, I still haven't managed to get my fully working routine back, but I'm trying! Today I went back to the swimming pool after more than one month since the last time and, even if at first my arms were aching like hell, I was able to get back to my usual rhythm after a few laps and it did feel good. Also waking up at midday is kind of part of my usual routine, and given that I still haven't totally recovered from jet lag yet, I really needed to sleep a good while. Adam's friend would need some sleep too to be less evil in the night!

Being ranked as one of the worst performers of the first Coachella weekend by the most renowned blogs, maybe Halsey is not at her best moment in terms of popularity, but I can't deny I am quite liking getting to know her music, and this is one of my favourites so far! Today I spent the day going to Luino, a (not that) small town on the lake up close to the Swiss border, as one of my best friends has just finished working there. My father used to work there and my uncle's family lives there, so I have a few links with it but never really got the chance/willingness to go there as far as my adult mind can remember. I spent a very nice day, with the bluest spring sky you can think of and in good company, and it's nice to get to know better the area around my hometown before leaving once again!

A song or two per day is not dead, nor am I. The last ten days have been hectic, among the fullest and busiest of my life, and I'm sorry I didn't find the time or the energy to sit down and write even a single post for the blog, but so it was and so it should be. Yesterday I got back from Japan and this has probably the fullest travelling experience I've ever done, being with myself and my backpack (not backpacking though!), pushing my limits and trying to get the fullest experience, and I am not disappointed. I cannot even tell you it's been the best 10 days of my life, or this and that are beautiful... the only thing I can feel is that this trip has been so busy that it will take me some time to process it all, if ever. Even the things I've done and seen in Tokyo at the beginning of this journey look so far in the past... I really needed something like that to compensate for the idle months I've been spending at home lately! But after all the sea called me home, wherever it is!

I keep being accused by friends and parents that I am always travelling around the world and... well, I can't say they are wrong. Probably I don't travel as much as I would like or could, we all know that seeing people on Facebook makes it look like everybody is always going around and doing cool things and this enhances my willingness to do the same, but all in all I can't complain, as especially in the last couple of years I've had my fair share of miles travelled, for one reason or another. Not being able to always find any friends to keep my pace, I also resorted to travelling alone, a thing I did last December for the first time since I was studying in Canada in 2012, and I will do it again. Tomorrow I am leaving again, this time for a trip that has been in my heart and brain for years, so I am really excited!! Maybe I won't get the time to post daily on the blog, but I'll do my best to keep you updated!

My dear readers, I am writing this post from my hotel room in Portimao, as today we have finally reached Algarve, one of the dream destinations on my to-go-to list! We just got here for sunset and as soon as I put my baggage in the room, I rushed out to the beach to take pictures of the sunset light... how beautiful! Can't wait to get more beautiful pics, hopefully featuring the sun (which is expected to be shy in the next days, let's hope we'll get some blue skies...) this time around!
