Willow pattern - Dolores O'Riordan

Willow pattern - Dolores O'Riordan
Today I have been working out a thing that has been bothering me for the past weeks: since I updated the OS of my Macbook, I have been unable to listen to and to transfer on my iPod the songs I had bought on the iTunes store with my old account (created with an email address that doesn't exist anymore). Not even trying to change mail and working with the authorisations did any good, so the only solution I had left was to... download the songs I had bought with that account. Do you see the irony in that? I guess that the DRM (Digital Rights Management) thing didn't really work out, it did not for me at least. The good thing in all that is that I got to listen back to old songs I haven't been paying much attention to lately. And I just realised I hadn't posted anything off Dolores's debut album as a solo artist since... the very first post of this blog!! I'm making it up now, as thinking about what this album has meant for me and listening to it always gives me a powerful chill!

#liveweek Promises (live in Paris) - The Cranberries

Promises (live in Paris) - The Cranberries
Today I'm on time for my post, yay! Proud of myself just for once!! Jokes apart, here I am taking advantage of an advertising break in the middle of X-Factor Italy's final (not that the singers are so great this year, I won't mind missing a part of the show) to share with you a great, great performance of one of my favourite songs off my favourite album by my favourite band, i.e. The Cranberries! This song is the favourite of my friend C, who came with me and another friend at my first Cranberries concert in Milan in 2010. Unfortunately the didn't play this song that time, but they did play it when I went to see them again in 2012 (I was alone that time though...)!! Have a good night!

#sundayrevival Free to decide - The Cranberries

Free to decide - The Cranberries
I didn't have much inspiration for this sundayrevival, because I've been mainly listening to new stuff and new playlists in the last few days, but I went back and checked what I could do and, well... I realised that when you have a music blog and in one and a half years you have posted less than half a dozen songs by your favourite band, there are things that need to be done, such as posting one of your favourite songs by your favourite bands! This song had a great great meaning for me, back in my teenage years: I was 17 when I started discovering "real" music, it's been a year of passage for me: thanks to iTunes, torrents, streaming and so, the world of music turned wide open in front of me and the Cranberries have been my first discovery, especially thanks to their songs that I knew from when I was little, which opened the gates to the rest of their discography, this masterpiece being one of them. Seems like yesterday, it' been... wow, almost 10 years!

#sundayrevival This is the day - The Cranberries

This is the day - The Cranberries
Hello dear folks! Of course I must begin by apologizing again for missing another post yesterday, I've been relatively busy and especially distracted, I came back to Milan and days of travel always tend to steal away time that then makes me forget to post... I have realised lately that I have been kind of ditching my sundayrevival posts and I had a couple of songs to post, a regular one and one for sundays! It's not sunday anymore actually, at least not in this part of the world, but given that I'm posting late quite often in the last few weeks, let's make this post count for sunday and get it like it is! The song is one of my all time favs of The Crans, even if it's not usually that much loved by fans... it came to my mind between two days ago and last night as I though that chances were opening up for a big step in my life, but the day has not come yet. I'll just post this in advance for when it's really gonna be the day!

PS: Now that the post is complete and ready to be published I have a very strong feeling of dejà vu! That's quite crazy when these things happen, isn't it?

Animal instinct - The Cranberries

The week of hard choices keeps going on, and it gets harder and harder! I think the only solution for me is to pick some of my old favourites. Given that we have been asked to make a playlist for the music in the office (oh, yes!) I hope the task won't be too hard!
Animal instinct - The Cranberries
Well, here we are! I think this song also makes sense for the current time, so everything is in the right place once again! Last sunday we have been having a very nice picnic in the Exeter University campus and, provided with three guitarists and two guitars, we got the chance to experiment a little bit. Probably the best outcome of our playing was a cover of this song, which is incidentally one of my favourites ever! Of course this has gone straight in the office playlist and I can't wait to listen to it. It is (I'd say of course) one of the songs from my childhood and I've been in love with it for a very very long time! Hope you enjoy it, just let your animal instinct out!

Still can't... - The Cranberries

Still can't... - The Cranberries
Last night I was playing a fairly new game online, it's called 2048 (just type the number on Google and you'll find it). It's quite addictive, I won't pull myself out in a description of it here, it's a nice logical/mathematical kind-of-puzzle game. Anyway, after addicting myself with it last night after work, I ended up feeling a bit alienated and on another planet. I was thus about to go down and get dinner ready but I felt I needed some good music to get back on track. My fingers pointed out quite randomly on this album's playlist and my (confused) mind said 'Why not?". This is the Cranberries' first CD and the atmospheres on it are very evocative, almost dreamlike. This is a very representative song of the album in my opinion, and also "incidentally" one of my favs!

Intro + October - Dolores O'Riordan

Hey everybody,
I have decided to give it a try again, yes, I am starting a blog (again)! This time I decided to try to give it a structured shape and most of all to make sure I would be motivated to post frequently. I realised the only way to do it is to talk about something I am passionate about and that I like to talk about and share everyday. The solution seemed obvious at this point: music is the answer!
So that's it, I will try to create a sort of agenda/calendar/whatever/something that will (hopefully) give you a song (or maybe even more) per day, based on my tastes, new discoveries, revivals and whatever else. I hope you'll be interested in it, you'll follow me in this new trip and, most of all, I strongly hope that this will make my Facebook friends happier, since I probably will stop overfilling the walls with music videos! :)

So, let's start. Let's start in the most obvious way possible. Let's start with a revival. The song I picked for today (say, it's still October 18 for me, I am still awake!) is a revival. This is October (I guess you can find out yourselves the obvious reasons why it came to my mind now...) from her 2007 solo album Are you listening?

Enjoy!
