Love like this - Kodaline

Love like this - Kodaline
I have just come home from a dinner organised by my dearest wife to say goodbye, as she is moving to another city for work. It was just her, some of her colleagues from work and me, no one else of our original high-school friends group and this is a bit sad to realise, as we are all spread around by now. I am very happy for her, it's a good opportunity both professionally and personally and she really needs that, so I hope she'll be able to get the best out of it! I don't know why, but then this song instantly came to my mind as soon as I placed my sushi-filled butt on the chair, so I guess that's why I'm posting it, and not because I relate to the lyrics: even if we somehow lost touch with each other, I do think that a love like this (the one between me and my hometown friends) will indeed last forever, notwithstanding the distance!

War - Kodaline

War - Kodaline
"There's a war between my head and my heart and I don't know which side to take..."
How often does that happen?! I think it's a daily fight between rationality and passion, between doing what's right and 'righting' what you do, between doing what the others think you want to and doing what you want to. Because yes, sometimes the others know what's best for you, and your rational part does too. But we decide to ignore it. In the end it's "just" the choice of which road will bring us the most happiness. And our own perspective about it changes all the time. And in the end maybe the best thing is the very same choice process... and listening to great pieces of music during it!!
"Life, it's just the way it is, yeah the way it always was and it's alright..."

Love will set you free - Kodaline

Love will set you free - Kodaline
Summer has come and I'm so happy about it that it makes me forget all the other things that are not really working so well in my life! Let's just enjoy it and hope for the best to come. Because you can't not believe that when you're busy getting on with your life, lonely but not alone, still one day love will set you free!

Human again - Kodaline

Human again - Kodaline
No sundayrevival post this week, as I have so many newer songs to post and I'm lagging behind and already listening to new music, and I meant to post twice yesterday and then I forgot... uff!! Such a full life and a short time, when you have to travel places back and forth, so much time wasted, that I could use much better otherwise... anyway, today I've been having this song in my head since the morning, and given that I haven't shared it with you, it seems like the perfect time to do so! Have a great new week!

The one - Kodaline

The one - Kodaline
Hello my dear readers, actually... let me start again. Sa-wad-dee-krap my dear readers! I am sorry for not posting every day lately, but my days are quite full and when I get through I'm pretty tired. Yet I'm starting to mingle with the Thai culture, food and people and basic greetings and stuff, so a little step by step progress is taking place! Now I have two full days of weekend in front of me and I'm ready to go take the first steps of exploring Bangkok! I'll keep you updated, in the meanwhile enjoy another great song out of Kodaline's new album!!

Autopilot - Kodaline

Autopilot - Kodaline
Today I skipped work because of my dear fever, so bothersome. Thanks goodness it feels like I'm already better and I hope there won't be any problems in taking my flight on Sunday for my 2-weeks of work abroad! Nonetheless the drive back home has been, as usual, quite tiring, especially as I was still not feeling perfectly well, and also because it was very hot (which might have been actually good for my health and also for my mood!), at least until Milan it felt like driving to the sea in summer. Then after turning towards my hometown, the sky turned gray and of course it started raining as soon as I parked the car outside my house to unload all the bags and baggages. Thanks goodness by now I got to know the highway quite well and it feels like it's the autopilot driving!

Play the game - Kodaline

Play the game - Kodaline
And here we are, the long weekend has begun!! I never gave much weight to the official holidays before, but I guess that my point of view has changed now, as I was leaving the office with a big smile on my face today! Especially because I have a great plan for the weekend, i.e. I'm gonna go to Barcelona and visit my dear friend H. who was a colleague of mine during my internship in U.K. last year! I'm so glad to get the chance to meet her months after she came to visit in Milan, and I'm also happy to finally get the chance to properly see the city of fiesta and playa (just to build a bit on the stereotypes)!! I'll do my best to keep the blog posted, you will for sure hear from me tomorrow as my plane is late at night, and then I'll be back on tuesday, worst case scenario (I hope not)!! Ready, set, go play the game!!

Everything works out in the end - Kodaline

Everything works out in the end - Kodaline
It's been a while since I last posted Kodaline, isn't it? Well, their new album is probably not going to win race for the best album of 2015, but personally I can't label it anywhere near to unenjoyable. The songs are quite nice and, even if maybe not as catchy and enjoyable as the ones in their first album, the overall result is a great listen for practically every occasion. I still haven't found any particular song standing up from the crowd, but this 'Everything works out in the end' is a particularly enjoyable one, and it is particularly meaningful at this time of my life, it's the mood booster I really need, so I hope you can enjoy it too!!
Given that today out first transfer has been confirmed, it seems like things are actually starting to work out! Yet again, more news about my plans soon (don't wanna jinx it even more than it already is by itself)!

Unclear (live) - Kodaline

Unclear - Kodaline
My life is pretty uncertain in these weeks, especially as my next few months are concerned, so when I heard this song on Kodaline's new album, it struck me immediately.

"So you swallow your heart and you swallow your pride
You gotta be tough if you wanna survive
They’ll chew up and they’ll eat you alive
You shouldn’t give up on the dreams in your mind"

I didn't have to swallow up much for now, luckily, but what really bothers me is that we are the generation of uncertainty, we are always kept on the edge and things get arranged at the very last minute (like "hey, yeah, you're getting a job, you start tomorrow!" and stuff like that), it really feels like we're having t fight (with each other) to get a few crumbs, and even when the dish on the table is rich and you're lucky enough to be invited to the feast, they don't give you a chair, plate and fork until the very last moment, or maybe even a while after the party's started. And that's frustrating when you're trying to give it a little bit of planning to your life! But you can't

"When the futures so unsure
When the futures so unclear
When the futures so unsure
When the futures so unclear"

Yet not all is bad, tables are turning and I think that we, at least the luckiest and more determined among us, are carving our own spaces and learning how to cope with uncertainty, last-minute decisions and being dynamic and ready-to-go, living with a baggage always ready to be picked up for your next adventure!

"We walk, we walk on
Our time, our time will come"

All I want - Kodaline

All I want - Kodaline
Hello everybody! No, I'm not gone, I'm still here! After everything that I went through in these past few days, I'm still here, stronger than ever! So, first of all my trip to Bruxelles: after a rough start embodied by the breaking / stopping / whatever of the train that was taking me from the airport to the city and being left for 1 hour and a half not far from our final destination, being evacuated from the train in the middle of a forest and walking back to the (luckily very close) previous station, and meeting nice people in the meanwhile, I finally reached and greeted my friend who was waiting for me! The rest of the trip has been quite nice, biting cold but nice, we walked through the main sightseeings and also through a nice art-nouveau itinerary not really in the center. We also spent a few nice moments at home, singing and listening to music. At one point I came back from the bathroom and got into the kitchen while this song was playing, so I started singing it out loud and in my mind for days, still today. But that's not the end of the whole thing! (Otherwise I would've posted yesterday, after a very intense weekend, or maybe even sooner). On saturday night my computer was plugged in for charging and I heard a sudden 'crack', the lights went out in a part of the house and then my charger didn't work anymore. Still haven't understood what caused what, but I had to wait until today to be able to buy a new cheap and not official charger (thank you Chinese guys in Milan's Chinatown for avoiding me the wait for an Amazon delivery), so then we come to now! I've updated you with all the main events of my long weekend, so I'll be back tomorrow!

Talk - Kodaline

I see I am in the mood for "talkative" songs in these days! After Talk to me yesterday, another Talk today! No, it's not Coldplay's song (that one was featured here). Now it's (again) Kodaline time! The guys are quite good, I've started listening to them recently and they're getting a quite good (and deserved) level of attention, I think. Give them a try if you don't know them, and even more so if you do know them already!

All comes down - Kodaline

I've been keeping a couple of songs on the side for quite a few days and I was almost ready to start posting one today, but I changed my mind at the last moment. As I realised that I still haven't posted anything of Kodaline. Luckily enough, one of their songs popped out a few seconds ago from my last playlist and it occurred to me that it makes sense. So it is, and so it should be. Enjoy!
