House on fire - Sia

House on fire - Sia
Back from the short trip to the sea with my parents, it's time to set back into my usual routine and start planning the next trip! But I'm gonna do that tomorrow, as right now my bed is calling out for me! Have a good night with one of the songs off Sia's latest album!

#sundayrevival Radio - Lana del Rey

Radio - Lana del Rey
Hello my dear readers, another week has com to an end and it's time for a new sundayrevival post. Today it hardly feels like Sunday, as I have left with my parents for a couple days at the sea (who the hell leaves on Sunday? Only people who do smart vacations! Or people who look for good weather). The drive has not been too long, just over a couple of hours, but at one point I felt the need to enliven it with some music; in particular I had this song on my mind (goodness bless this inspired week and may it have more of them to come in the future!) and so I put on Lana's whole debut album (under her current art name). The trip has been more pleasant for sure after that! I hope this song can make your end of the week more enjoyable too!

Tide - Junip

Tide - Junip
After a long and all-in-all satisfying full-day tour of Lanzarote, I got back to the hotel, had dinner and came back to my room. Driving up and down the hills and mountains of the island from south to north and back has been a bit tiring but it was called for. Some of the places I've seen were quite worth it, some others not so much and most of them anywhere lay in between the awesome and the "meeeh", so good to see but not unforgettable. The highlights are anyway always linked to the sea, and the tides are one part of it that struggled me quite a lot: the beach near my hotel at night gets some 20-30 meters longer, maybe more! It's impressive how the ocean retreats and advances, I'm not used to it as the Mediterranean is a closed sea and the tide events are not so significant! Probably Junip are more used to open waters than me!

#sundayrevival Pure shores - All saints

Pure shores - All saints
I have been waiting for the right moment to post this post for a long time, at least since July but probably since even before than that. I got to find again this song I remember from my childhood when I watched the well-renowned movie 'The beach' with Di Caprio, as the song is featured in the soundtrack. Given that I was orbiting around Thailand, I decided I would post it when I would get the chance to spend a weekend on the pure shores of southern Thailand, and finally this moment has come! Ok, I did not go to Phi Phi Islands where the movie was shot (yet), but being in Phuket was awesome enough. So awesome. I-wanna-leave-everything-behind-and-open-a-restaurant-there awesome. Really, it's not usual that experiences leave such a strong mark right when you're living them, so I can't really imagine what effect this weekend will have on me on the long term. Right now I am just cherishing the memories I got and being astonished by the fact that tomorrow I won't be on the beach. What I know is that I'll do my best to back there asap! Have a good new week you all!

Call it what you want - Foster the People

Call it what you want - Foester the People
Ok today I've been listening to Foster the People in my car and I thought I could check whether I had already posted one song of theirs I felt a link to, and yes, I already did, as I thought. But one moment later (now) I realised that I never posted one of my favourite FTP songs since I started listening to them! Let me check again as I can't believe it... it's true! I haven't posted it! So I'm gonna instantly put remedy to that! Or maybe not... there's one other song I haven't posted that is more pressing now, so I'll leave this as a draft for a short while!
...
And here I am again! Just some 24 hours later! And what good 24 hours! I spent almost half of them sleeping and a good part of the other half relaxing on a beautiful lake north of here, sunbathing and enjoying the (likely) last weekend of summer and then briefly visiting Belluno, the second-to-last province town in Veneto that I hadn't visited yet! What a good day!

#sundayrevival Oops!... I did it again - Britney Spears

Oops!... I did it again - Britney Spears
Ok, in my defense I want to say that I didn't start this blog to post Britney Spears (and the kind) music. I haven't (almost never) done it so far. But sometimes it makes sense, and when you enjoy things and they don't harm anyone and they make sense, why not do them? At the end of our road trip, when we were crossing the last part of Switzerland before coming back to Italy, we ended up listening to Britney quite a bit (and then we moved to the opening songs of the cartoons they showed on TV when we were little!), especially to this one, which has never been among my favourites of hers (ok, now, I probably have 5 songs of hers and this is the one I like the least, let's put it like this), but I don't dislike it and in some circumstances, as I said already, it makes sense. I hope it can make sense to you today. Actually it's my last day off work, so going back tomorrow after 2 weeks it's gonna be hard! Maybe I need more trash pop music, maybe I need more Britney...!

Together again - Janet Jackson

Together again - Janet Jackson
Here I am, back from my road trip! We came back yesterday and after a walk through my hometown I had dinner and then went out again. Before reaching home we visited Bellinzona, one of the bigger towns in the Italian part of Switzerland, a place I've never dreamed of visiting but I was very glad we did, as it is a very nice place, with a historic city center and it has three castles just above downtown where you can climb up to and have an amazing view of the valley below! All in all I'm very glad and happy about the whole trip, now I have to put myself back into the framework of going to work next week. Good luck to me for that (and to all the other people who share my fate)! About this song, it just happen to play as I was driving back home after leaving my trip mates at the station and I thought it was a good one to share with you, so (with a little delay) here it is!

The reason - Hoobastank

Hoobastank - The reason
Our road trip through Switzerland is going on, and after the beautiful Luzern, Zurich and Bern we have come to Basel, a city I have been willing to come to visit for the longest time! After a first, superficial look, the city center is maybe not as pretty as in the other cities we've visited, but my impression is not negative! Of course we have been driving miles and miles and music has been a good companion. I've been playing extensively out of my 2000s music playlists and today I am posting another song we've listened to (and of course sung to) in the car!

Shadow of the day - Linkin Park

Shadow of the day - Linkin Park
Here I am, lost in the heart of Europe! I am on a mountain in Liechtenstein (yeah, I know, many of those of you reading from outside Europe won't even know what that is!), at the end of a small town just above Vaduz, at the foot of skiing tracks and taller mountains! But hey, it's a road-trip! I am travelling through Switzerland with a couple of friends and this is out first stop, which is not in Switzerland (but almost and kind of). The landscapes are beautiful, the weather cold and cloudy/rainish, the time we're having great and the music... quite cool! We've been mostly playing one of my playlists with 00s music, but before that a little OneRepublic and Linkin Park. Given that I have never posted any song of the latter, it seems like a good moment to begin, and I'm doing it with one of my favourite songs of theirs! Have a good night you all!

Play the game - Kodaline

Play the game - Kodaline
And here we are, the long weekend has begun!! I never gave much weight to the official holidays before, but I guess that my point of view has changed now, as I was leaving the office with a big smile on my face today! Especially because I have a great plan for the weekend, i.e. I'm gonna go to Barcelona and visit my dear friend H. who was a colleague of mine during my internship in U.K. last year! I'm so glad to get the chance to meet her months after she came to visit in Milan, and I'm also happy to finally get the chance to properly see the city of fiesta and playa (just to build a bit on the stereotypes)!! I'll do my best to keep the blog posted, you will for sure hear from me tomorrow as my plane is late at night, and then I'll be back on tuesday, worst case scenario (I hope not)!! Ready, set, go play the game!!

Boreal - Hundred waters

Boreal - Hundred waters
I've sent this song to my friend B. a few days ago because it reminded me of her and her wish for a trip throughout Norway (a wish I don't really share, I'm more attracted to Iceland, which still makes sense for the purpose of this post!) and she told me she really liked it and that she went on to listen to Hundred waters for the whole next day. I think I shared something of theirs with her before, I'm not sure, but anyway... all of this just to convince you to give it a try if you don't know the band and the song, it has a record of appreciation! It is also one of my favs on their debut album, so... if you wish to make a trip in the far north, you can't really miss this!!

Candela - Noelia

Candela - Noelia
Hello people! First of all, I noticed that we broke through the +3.000 milestone on the blog, so happy about that, thanks to you all! Second of all, I am now in Paris, just got off my transatlantic flight from the Caribbean, I'm already kind of sick (thanks, Air France, for the crazy air conditioning) and waiting with my father for our flight back home. During this week in the Caribbean I have developed a pretty strong intolerance to Latin music, especially when it was forced on me (i.e. all the time), but I needed to post this to celebrate this trip, also because it's been a favourite of mine when it came out in Europe in the early 2000s. So, this is to celebrate and to hope that I won't get another flu or whatever anytime soon...! See you all soon!

Bad - U2

Bad - U2
Bad. Like the excursion we made today to Isla Saona, a most loved trip by people according to reviews on the internet, a most useless waste of time and money, if you want my side of the story. The water in the sea was dirty with seaweeds and not at all better than that in front of our hotel, same applies to the beach. The only good part was when I swam a little farther from the beach, but then people didn't want us to get too far. So ok, practically it's like "stay here in the dirty water".
Bad. Not like swimming in nice Caribbean water and having close encounters with starfish, first mediated by the guys and then in the "wild" sea!
Bad. Like wasting hours of transport to get to a place that was no better than the one we left and that offered no particular thing that was worth the trip.
Bad. Like the continuous effect that loud Latin music has on me. Can't stand it anymore is an euphemism.
Bad. Not like listening to music on the seaside, relaxing and always finding the right song for the moment.
Bad. Not at all like this song. One of my U2 favs!

Lovely day - ∆ (Alt-J)

Lovely day - ∆
Day 3 of DR holiday! Today I woke up with the awesome sound of my baggage rolling in the room (no, it's not deep!), pulled by my father who found a notice outside our door! Finally I got my stuff! Almost immediately the phrase "Reunited with my bag" came to my mind, and it was as much immediately followed by "and with you, Taro", rephrasing a lyric of Alt-J's song Taro. All of this to explain why I ended up listening to ∆ today and why I'm posting them, more in particular a song out of their latest album which came out a few months ago.
Music apart, today I took a walk 'on the wild side' (literally) with my father, as we walked on the foreshore moving out of the beach of our hotel and inside the wilder Caribbean, just to be struck by a (very Caribbean) quick rain storm, soaked to the skin and blown by the wind. Sometimes the comfort zone ain't that bad, is it?! Notwithstanding the weather (we didn't really see the sun clearly at all today), it's been a lovely day! Hope tomorrow is gonna be even better!

Funny fact: At one point, while listening to Alt-J on the poolside, a Latin music started playing quite loud so that I could hear it, and in my mind a picture (more kind of a video actually) formed with the singer Joe (in the picture above) singing the songs kind of against the Latin music, overcoming it when his singing in my earplugs was stronger than it! I was half asleep on the lounger but the scene was very vivid in my mind!! I found it very entertaining!

Pretty when you cry - Lana del Rey

Pretty when you cry - Lana del Rey
Day 2 in Dominican Republic, actually day 1 of real full-time holiday as we arrived last night just in time for dinner! I am already emitting heat from all over my body, even if I just exposed my skin to the "sun" this morning and the weather was pretty cloudy and quickly changing, so not much exposure at all! And quite a bit of sun-cream too! I hope it's gonna be alright! My baggage is still lost somewhere around the world and the situation is getting hard with clothes and stuff (bring me my stuuuuuuff!!!!), I hope everything's gonna turn out fine! I've been listening to some last summer playlists on the beach and Lana's seemed a pretty fitting music for the context, so I also listened to her whole album Ultraviolence, which you know BY HEART by now (I hope you do, with all the posts I wrote about it!!). This is one of the few songs I love on it that I haven't posted already, and it finds its time and space here and now, hope you enjoy, bye bye!

Fire meet gasoline - Sia

Fire meet gasoline - Sia
Hello people! After many many hours of travelling, I am finally almost on the other side of the world! Ok, maybe not THAT far away, but it feels like it! I finally reached Dominican Republic to have a 1-week holiday with my father, and I'm already thrilled, even if my baggage has remained in Paris (for now). We already had a nice buffet dinner and enjoyed a Broadway Musicals show since we came to the hotel a couple hours ago, but the song I'm posting is related to my long plane trip from Paris to Punta Cana, 9 hours and half of cramped seats and pushy people! Luckily enough, the entertainment on board was quite nice, there were the usual movies (I watched a couple, let's say one and a half as I was almost sleeping at one point), but also games and of course music! Nice music! I created a playlist with songs from some of my favourite albums of last year, by London Grammar, Imagine Dragons, Lykke Li and of course Sia! Even if while this song was playing I was asleep (I actually slept for almost the whole duration of the music play), it still stuck in my mind and given that I hadn't posted it already, here it is!
Once again, as usual when I'm away from home I might delay and/or miss some posts, so I'm sorry in advance, I'll do my best to keep the flow regular and constant (while also enjoying my Caribbean trip at the fullest)!!! Burn with me tonight!

Spectrum - Florence + the Machine

Spectrum - Florence + the Machine
I'm back home, I travelled full of luggage (two trolleys, something like 5 big paper bags and a shoulder bag) full of clothes, papers and xmas gifts, both mine and my aunt's... Yes, I started transferring back my stuff from Milan quite seriously, it made sense after living these last few days there with a nostalgic vibe. The moving has been quite tough, especially as I've been doing it alone, and the worst part is finding room at home for all the stuff I brought back, but things are slowly taking a new shape! Of course I wanted to live my 1-hour drive back home at the fullest, and my music pick has been, as you can imagine, Florence + the Machine! Overlooking the fact that my singing in the car was probably comparable to that of Britney Spears at her concerts, it's been very rewarding and moving as usual, even more than usual I'd say, given the aforementioned nostalgic vibe. Of course one of the songs which I was singing myself hoarse was this one, Spectrum, big feelings, powerful singing, I'll never forget my times with Florence in the car... just chills, nothing else!

All I want - Kodaline

All I want - Kodaline
Hello everybody! No, I'm not gone, I'm still here! After everything that I went through in these past few days, I'm still here, stronger than ever! So, first of all my trip to Bruxelles: after a rough start embodied by the breaking / stopping / whatever of the train that was taking me from the airport to the city and being left for 1 hour and a half not far from our final destination, being evacuated from the train in the middle of a forest and walking back to the (luckily very close) previous station, and meeting nice people in the meanwhile, I finally reached and greeted my friend who was waiting for me! The rest of the trip has been quite nice, biting cold but nice, we walked through the main sightseeings and also through a nice art-nouveau itinerary not really in the center. We also spent a few nice moments at home, singing and listening to music. At one point I came back from the bathroom and got into the kitchen while this song was playing, so I started singing it out loud and in my mind for days, still today. But that's not the end of the whole thing! (Otherwise I would've posted yesterday, after a very intense weekend, or maybe even sooner). On saturday night my computer was plugged in for charging and I heard a sudden 'crack', the lights went out in a part of the house and then my charger didn't work anymore. Still haven't understood what caused what, but I had to wait until today to be able to buy a new cheap and not official charger (thank you Chinese guys in Milan's Chinatown for avoiding me the wait for an Amazon delivery), so then we come to now! I've updated you with all the main events of my long weekend, so I'll be back tomorrow!

Love and understanding - Cher

Love and understanding - Cher
I have been postponing this post for a while now, as I had more fitting songs to share with you, but finally its time has come! I'd say that my relationship with Cher's music has kicked off great, I am really enjoying her collection and many songs sound familiar, even if I don't remember of ever listening to them... well, whatever. This is another girl that struck me quite soon and I already find myself singing it out loud with satisfaction when it plays! I hope I'm gonna restrain myself a bit tomorrow on the plane... yeah, about that, the news is that I'm going to visit my musically inspiring friend in Bruxelles for the weekend, leaving tomorrow. I hope I'll be able to post regularly over the weekend, regularly meaning every day, but I can't assure that...! Worst case scenario, I'll be back with you on Monday!

Eye of the needle - Sia

Eye of the needle - Sia
Hello folks! I am back, finally and sadly. Yesterday the trips has been quite tiring, so I didn't have the strength to sit down and post when I got back at about 1 AM, but here I am now! I'm not gonna talk much about Sicily anymore, as I think you already noticed these two weeks have been awesome and intense! I'm a sad to be back, but it is also good to start again with my regular life, I am quite thrilled with my thesis as I can see the end of the tunnel close to me and I really can't wait to get done with it now! Music is also a good topic, during the trip I have been mainly listening to old stuff, 90s hits, Florence + the Machine, Coldplay, OneRepublic... Today I got back to more current stuff and I'm posting one of my favourites out of the latest playlist, and also another great song out of Sia's latest album!
